The microchannel condenser is a cooling product of the automobile air conditioning system. It is installed inside the bumper of the car. Its main function is to cool the Freon in the air conditioning compressor, let the cooled Freon enter the evaporator, release cold air into the car, and keep the car at a comfortable temperature.
The microchannel condenser is an all aluminum product, which is aluminium fin, collector tubes, flat tubes, specially shaped bends, drying bottles and other parts. The flat tubes are microchannel types, such as 2*16mm flat tubes, which have 8-12 small channels, and these small channels can ensure that the condenser has a high pressure resistance.
With the development of industry and the popularization of aluminum brazing technology, as well as the rising cost of copper materials, more and more industries now use this aluminum condenser, such as household air conditioners, industrial cooling machines and other products.

Working principle of microchannel condenser
The working principle of all types of air conditioner condenser is basically the same. Now we will mainly explain the working principle of the condenser of the automobile air conditioner. In brief, the condenser is a cooling module.
It is to exchange heat between the high-temperature gaseous refrigerant discharged from the compressor and the air through the condenser to make the refrigerant return to the liquid state, and the liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator through the expansion valve.
The car blower sends the low temperature released outside the evaporator to the car, and the refrigerant inside the evaporator will return to the compressor for high-temperature gasification and enter the condenser, which is the working process of the condenser.
Design of microchannel condenser
- The micro channel condenser with parallel flow structure adopts the design of large inlet and small outlet, that is, the first channel for high-temperature gaseous refrigerant entering the condenser is 50%, the second channel is 25%, the third channel is 15%, and the fourth channel is 10%. This design can greatly improve the heat transfer efficiency.
- The overall dimensions of the condenser need to be matched according to the displacement of the engine and the efficiency of the space machine compressor in the car. If the size is too large, it will not only increase the cost, but also increase the weight of the car, which will also affect the fuel consumption. If the size is too small, it will affect the heat exchange efficiency, and the cooling in the car is too slow.
- Each car has a different inlet diffuser. To avoid long-term use of the condenser in harsh environments, if necessary, the condenser needs to be spraying with a layer of black paint to increase the oxidation resistance of aluminum materials.
- The microchannel condenser has parallel flow type and elbow type. Both types of products have advantages. The design engineer needs the installation space, heat exchange efficiency, production cost control and other factors of the car to choose the most suitable condenser for that car.
Micro channel condenser parts
To produce a complete microchannel aluminum condenser, It needs to involve many fields., such as CNC machining, aluminium tube extrusion production, aluminum brazing and other technologies. Let’s briefly understand the manufacturing process of each part.
- Aluminum block parts
These parts are processed using CNC machining, as the size of the parts is very small, usually 15 * 20mm. They are produced using small CNC machines for automation.
- Dry bottle
This part is also processed using CNC machining, and it also requires laser welding.
- Microchannel flat tube
This part is produce by continuous extrusion. The aluminum material is softened at a high temperature of 280℃, and then pressure is applied using a hydraulic press. The aluminum material is extrusion from the mold to form a microchannel shape, which is then cooling and cut to the required length.
- Collecting pipe
Most of the parts are round, but some tube are D shape. They are also produce by extrusion, cut the required length, and then use the stamping mold to open holes.
- Aluminium fin
Usually, the factory of the microchannel condenser buys aluminum foil with the required width, and then the roller type machine produces aluminium fin. The fastest production speed of this fin machine reaches 120 meters per minute.
